Re: England squad for SA tour
Can't we just use him as a batsman and keep on using the current test WK?

They have to stick with butler he is an unbelievable talent, he is not a natural glove man so he needs ensure he puts as much work in with the bat as he does with the gloves, which he probably hasn't been doing the more his work behind the stumps has been scrutinised.

Tough choice about what to do with him test level

I'll stick by what I said for the past 6 months... he is not a test Cricketer... his glovework is average and he is like a rabbit caught in headlamps when he bats... test match situations he does not know how to play... ODI and T20 * spits * he is ideal...

Matt Prior was pretty average keeper when he made his test debut. He worked his arse off and improved massively though - fingers crossed that Johnny Bairstow can do the same.

Re: England squad for SA tour
Tough choice about what to do with him test level. In limited overs there's no doubt he is the best English player if not the best in the world, the question is do we keep persisting with him at test level which may be at detriment to his limited overs performances, or give him time away which may lead to a further disconnect from the 'test mindset'.

I must admit the idea of Johnny B for a sustained period of time is worrying, given the years of almost perfection we had from Prior.

He was 100/1 in running to top score when he came in.

Only 13 overs left when he came in weren't there or something silly?

Brilliant.

In terms of the Rashid / Patel pick, I think they are looking at the future.

He isn't going to get a game over in South Africa, so let him go and play Big Bash Cricket for a couple of months whilst Big Fat Sami brings the drinks out.
